Kick ass SEO… or: Internet Content Rating Association

One tool – in context to search engine optimization – I want to briefly describe is the internet content rating association, which has lately become a member of the family online safety institute.

And why is it valuable to Search Engine Optimization?

As a webmaster you have the opportunity to submit your website which will then be reviewed by the organization and determine

  • The presence or absence of nudity
  • The presence or absence of sexual content
  • The depiction of violence
  • The language used
  • The presence or absence of user-generated content and whether this is moderated
  • The depiction of other potentially harmful content such as gambling, drugs and alcohol

If you have described the content of your website accordingly, your website is – at least perceivable – more valuable to the internet and you thus get more PageRank.

I admit – this was just in a nutshell – but implementing it has helped us in the past to raise PageRank on several projects.

What empirical data do you have to support your claim that an ICRA rating would improve page rank?
