Concepts for Knowledge Management and Retention of Corporate Intellectual Property
Knowledge is probably the most valuable asset of any organization, yet hardly any organization undergoes an effort to preserve it.
Knowledge management increases productivity and efficiency by preventing a business from working on something repeatedly.
Let’s use an example: two years ago your R&D developed a chipset for a product. A few hundred man hours were spent and the project had a price tag of a few hundred thousand dollars without the product ever going into production.
All of the staff has been laid off due to financial difficulties and the new engineers now undergo the effort of researching this chipset with the same specifications for another project.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could help you prevent this waste of money from happening in the future?
And what do you think would happen if your company would be subject to a merger or acquisition and you could bring all of this conserved intellectual property to the table – wouldn’t the buyer potentially have to quadruple the sum they’re willing to offer?
